Growing the Church in Malawi

Early in this year we invited Bible for Believers to come and share their wonderful ministry with our parish St.Mark’s District Six.A seed was planted and the word God gave us in that sermon was Mathew 28 :16-20 which ultimately confirmed to me what He is calling each of us to do,when months later we received a newsletter from B4B inviting churches to join them on their missionary journey to Malawi.

It is a good thing becoming a financial partner as it assists in the purchasing of bibles to be distributed in Malawi and other nations that do not have bibles in their homes, but taking a step of faith and being part of actually delivering the word and bibles to Malawi is a different challenge.

With prayer and God’s guidance, I was willing and ready to go and deliver Bibles and share the Good News not only with my neighbor but in a neighbouring country.

The two weeks in Bangula Malawi has given me the opportunity to experience being used as Gods hands and feet and being His voice. We shared the Gospel with those who never heard of Jesus, and their hunger to know and receive God was humbling. It brought tears to my eyes, realizing how fortunate we are having good solid Christian Leaders and Bibles to help guide us in the right direction, yet how many of us take it for granted.

On so many occasions during our visit in the villages the scriptures became a reality. We would have crowds sitting around listening to the word of God getting to know his Son Jesus and they would come and join the group as we moved to the next village and the crowd would get bigger and bigger as we moved along. We gave the villagers the opportunity to share their testimonies with others in their village and just seeing the joy and excitement in their eyes is unexplainable.Looking back I realize how privileged I was to serve God in this manner.

At the end of our two weeks we visited 12 villages, with 12 teams consisting of either 2 or 4 people per team and reached 20289 people,9400 people accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour,24 new churches were planted and 85 people were baptized.

I have learnt through this experience that there is so much more meaning and value in our Conclusion Prayer which we say every Sunday before leaving church.(Offering ourselves as His Living Sacrifices and asking God to fill us with the Holy spirit and use us in the world to bring Praise and Glory to His Kingdom)Christ desire is that all of us would live out these words and not just say them, its about being a doer of His word.
