Supporting Government's attempts to introduce a National Health Insurance

Supports all efforts to introduce a national health insurance scheme that will provide affordable access to professional health cre for all the citizens of our country;

Expresses our sincere appreciation to those medical doctors, surgeons and other health professionals who offer their services at greatly reduced or at no charge to clergy and full-time lay workers and their familes;

Asks that the relevant sections of this decision of Synod be conveyed to the Minister of Health, the Synod of Bishops of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa and the Standing Committee of Provincial Synod with an urgent request that the issues identified be addresssed and that appropriate and urgent actions be taken to ensure that adequate, accessible and affordable health care is accpeted as the right of every citizen of this country and not only available to the affluent.

Synod accepted the motion
